Ars musica zurich was founded in the autumn of 2005 by Sabrina Frey. It is composed of the four string players Fiorenza de Donatis and Andrea Rognoni, violin; Stefano Marcocchi, viola and Marco Frezzato, violoncello as well as the recorder player Sabrina Frey and the harpsichordist Vital Julian Frey. The four string players are in great demand as leading musicians in some of Europe's best baroque orchestras such as "Accademia Bizantina" (Ottavio Dantone), Ensemble "Zefiro" (Alfredo Bernardini), "Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra" (Ton Koopman), Ensemble "I Barocchisti" (Diego Fasolis) and "Europa Galante" (Fabio Biondi). Sabrina Frey and Vital Julian Frey play concerts regularly as a Duo within Switzerland and abroad. All musicians are dedicated to vibrant interpretations within the framework of historical performance practice.
The combination of these six musicians provides the opportunity of performing outstanding chamber music such as the well-known recorder concerts by Vivaldi, Telemann, Sammartini or various Concerti Grossi. A diversified presentation of concert programs with different instrumentation - from one up to six musicians playing solos, duos, triosonatas and concertos - lets the concerts of this ensemble become a unique, electrifying experience.
The first common performances in Zurich, in Locarno, at the Stockstaedter Music Festival and the Musica Canterey Bamberg in Germany and the Festival of Bad Aussee, Austria were enthusiastically received by the press and the group's wonderfully harmonious interplay, perfection of style, technique and spirited musicality regularly thrills its audience.
