Baroque music is my musical home; I am a concert recorder-player and play various recorders (as a soloist and as part of an ensemble).
The connection between baroque music and the recorder began to play a decisive role for me at an early age, and my wish to play this music in a lively, multi-facetted way has not changed. To me, baroque music is like a crystal ball that opened a gate to the musical past and future.
The recorder proved its worth in baroque music in both ensemble and solo music at a very high level. As of today we have only been able to make improvements to this in small steps. In view of the requirements of modern concert halls I developed a technique for blowing and breathing which makes it possible for the recorder to dominate rooms of differing sizes.
As a concert soloist one stands in surroundings where mistakes can hardly be forgiven. In a baroque music ensemble, by contrast, it is precisely the impressive character of the recorder which shapes the harmony in a challenging way.
It is nice that you have found this website. I am happy to share my enthusiasm for baroque music and the recorder with you, whether you found the way to me as a musician, student or concert-goer.
